The time Switzerland accidentally invaded Liechtenstein... again

Needless to say, there are much scarier places that the Swiss soldiers could have ended up than army-less Liechtenstein
You might think that international invasions are always dramatic events, but sometimes they're more of a punchline than a headline. In 2007, Switzerland (Globle country for November 24) accidentally invaded Liechtenstein (November 25) with an army of 170 soldiers… who were just a little lost.
The incident happened during a routine training exercise when the Swiss soldiers were marching in the dark and inadvertently crossed an unmarked border, straying about 1.5 kilometers into Liechtenstein territory. When the soldiers realized their mistake, they quickly turned around and marched back home. The best part? The Liechtenstein authorities didn't even notice the "invasion" until Switzerland politely called them to apologize.
This wasn't the first time something like this happened between the two friendly neighbors. Switzerland has had a handful of border mishaps over the decades, mostly thanks to mountainous, poorly marked boundaries and the general friendliness between the countries. In one 1976 incident, 75 Swiss soldiers and their packhorses wandered into Liechtenstein, where locals reportedly offered them drinks which the soldiers politely declined before hastily departing. Liechtenstein, with a population of around 40,000 and no standing army of its own (disbanded in 1868), has such a good relationship with Switzerland that Switzerland even handles some of its diplomatic affairs.
